The protection against severe illness from so-called natural immunity remains superior to the protection bestowed by COVID-19 vaccines, according to a new study.
People who survived COVID-19 infection and were not vaccinated had sky-high protection against severe or fatal COVID-19, researchers in Qatar found.

An FDA advisory committee voted 19-2 on Tuesday to recommend use of an Omicron-specific component in a future COVID-19 vaccine booster.

Moderna says its new vaccine is more potent

Moderna released new study results today showing a fivefold increase in neutralizing antibodies for its combination COVID-19 vaccine booster. The new booster in development contains the original mRNA-1273 (Spikevax) vaccine and one specifically designed to target the more recent BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants.

Moderna Inc. announced Wednesday that the revamped COVID booster shot it has developed to fight Omicron and its subvariants should be ready for public use by August.
