Covid – Adapt, Don’t Fight Campaign

In March 2020, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of a previously unknown coronavirus a pandemic. Very early on, we predicted that a heavy handed government approach could cause more damage to society and economies than affects of the virus itself.

We have been campaigning and creating and curating content on the subject, particularly at the messy interface between the science and politics of Covid, since mid-March.

The beginning

Following the declaration of pandemic status ANH founder, executive and scientific director, Rob Verkerk PhD, wrote a special report. He concluded as follows:

Covid-19 has now achieved pandemic status. That label generates fear. Yet the decision is based on geography, not biology. So while some estimates suggest two-thirds of the global population will become infected, for many this might just involve a ‘sniffle and a tickle’ – or be entirely without symptoms.

We shouldn’t forget that a new virus using the human species as its host is something entirely natural. We will adjust to it – and this new coronavirus, from wherever it originated, will make its home in many of our bodies, and our immune systems will become more resilient as a result.

As stated by the WHO’s Director-General, Tedros Ghebreyesus,  “…it would be the first pandemic in history that could be controlled”. More importantly, perhaps being something worth celebrating, this could be achieved largely without pharmaceuticals or vaccines – just human cooperation around containment and control.”

The way things are currently looking, in our view, the biggest cost of the pandemic will not be through suffering and illness caused by direct infection. The greatest costs will be the economic and social consequences of our efforts to combat the virus. It is not just drugs that have side effects.

In order to minimise this impact, employers, event managers, transportation companies, health authorities and all those responsible for how those they communicate with behave, need to think things through very carefully. Careful consideration, not  panic or knee-jerking, will be the way forward.

Immune resilience

Much has been made of the lack of treatments for Covid-19, but mention supporting individual immune resilience and the censors hammer comes slamming down. Many doctors have found effective protocols that save lives, but their attempts to share such information have met with brick walls within governments and health authorities, particularly when those protocols utilise natural therapeutics.

We have coexisted with viruses for millennia. Without resililence the human population would not have survived this long.

Erosion of citizens’ rights and freedoms

Many of us are still aghast by how quickly governments all around the world have decided to implement incredibly life-changing, draconian measures in an effort to stem transmission of the new coronavirus, SARS-cov-2, responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic. Such is the fear that has been instilled in citizens by their governments as our basic rights and freedoms have been removed little resistance has been seen. However, as life returns to some form of normality more and more people are realising what’s been happening and are now rising up to reclaim those rights.

Vaccine transparency

April 2020 saw us launch our Vaccine Transparency campaign with the sending of an Open Letter to the UK Secretary of State for Health and Care, Matt Hancock, in conjunction with our medical doctor colleagues at the British Society for Ecological Medicine, calling for a new public narrative around vaccines.

We’re told repeatedly by our governments that we’ll only be allowed to emerge from various degrees of restriction to our freedoms once a vaccine is ready. That might take 12 to 18 months. We’re being given the impression it’s a straightforward process, that’s why it can be fast-tracked at a rate that surpasses any other vaccine ever produced. Hindsight’s a fine thing, but surely we need to learn from what went wrong last time round – when vaccines were produced for the last pandemic, the influenza A/H1N1 ‘swine flu’ virus back in 2009/10?

The solution has to be vaccine transparency. And we need to change the narrative from the World Health Organization (WHO)’s ‘vaccine hesitancy’, that the WHO rates as among the 10 greatest threats to global health, to vaccine transparency. Following publication of the Open Letter we published our vaccine transparency manifesto along with the release of downloadable PDFs especially designed to get the debate moving to the political table – one for a UK audience – the other an international version for use in all other countries.

We’ve continued the campaign to express our concerns around the warp speed development of covid vaccines as we try to focus people’s minds on the key aspects of information that are required if transparency is to occur on terms that are relevant to the public – not just to vaccine makers and regulators.

We’re very concerned not only about the genetically engineered spike protein antigen, but also with the burden of adjuvants and other so-called “non-active” ingredients that are likely to come with these vaccines – especially given it’s looking ever more likely that multiple doses are going to be required. Also because it’s going to be designed around older people with weaker immune systems, there’s no telling what impacts it might have on younger people with more responsive immune systems.

Schools and children during the pandemic

The pandemic has impacted many lives in many ways. For our children this time may affect them for the rest of their lives in ways we may never completely understand. For many school has become a distant memory as schools closed. The atmosphere of fear that has been created keeps schools closed as parents fearful for their children’s safety, become unwilling to risk the possibility of them becoming ill.

Despite the media headlines, children have been the least affected by the virus in terms of their susceptibility.
