Read the Natural Remedies Access Bill Below

If you have been following the Health Freedom News this Spring and Summer you know that FDA launched a major attack on Homeopathy at the end of last year, by proposing a new regulatory Guidance. The Push Back from health freedom advocates to the proposal was strong enough that FDA extended the comment period [1] and may be rewriting the Guidance prior to finalizing it during the next few months.

What would the Guidance, as proposed, have done? The following cogent summary of the current FDA threat to homeopathy just appeared in Health Impact News [2]
“In the guidance, the FDA says:
- Any homeopathic drug that has not been considered “generally recognized as safe and effective” (GRAS/E) is considered a new drug;
- FDA has not determined that any homeopathic drugs are GRAS/E;
- A new drug cannot be marketed unless it goes through the FDA’s approval process;
- No homeopathic drugs have gone through FDA approval nor can any producer afford to take them through the approval process.
That’s right: in one fell swoop, the FDA has declared that virtually every single homeopathic drug on the market is being sold illegally.”
Over the past several months a number of homeopaths, lawyers and health freedom advocates have been meeting on line and exchanging views with respect to the pending Guidance. Luminaries such as Gary Null, ND have weighed-in, offering advice on how to save our remedies. [3]

One main effort has been to draft a Bill — the Natural Remedies Access Act – NRAA — to offer Congress that would not only protect Homeopathy from the FDA’s unscientific effort to use “risk/benefit” analysis to outlaw homeopathy, but to protect all our natural remedies from similar attacks. Here is our current draft of that Bill:
